This hard drive is well worth the price--the firewire 400 connection is fast--and its operation is nearly silent.It backed up my 160 GB MacBook in under an hour on the first Time Machine backup and has been nearly instantaneous in running backups since then.Great buy, a large reputable company. So far so good..
